The Forever Train - Story II

You inhale and open your eyes.

The first thing you notice is the empty seat across you; the sunlight and shadows playing a game amongst themselves in a rapid tempo. Taking a look outside, you see foliage of various green shades and just beyond that you can make out hills and meadows.

Laughter fills the air and you can hear people chattering away. Of course, there’s someone crying, although why you had to reason it with an ‘of course’ leaves you wondering why. Regardless of the situation you are in and how you surprisingly feel like you have been sitting there forever, you have no clue how you got there.

As you sit pondering there, your hands neatly folded on your lap and your eyes entertained by the passing view, you notice a figure moving towards you and you look up.

It’s a boy with headphones in his ears wearing a black cap and a grey hoodie. He pauses for a while in the aisle, right next to the empty seat across you, and you find yourself hoping he will sit down. After all, all the other seats in this carriage are occupied but he moves on and disappears into the next car. Funny how the seating arrangements are two seats facing each other and not the usual four.

It strikes you as odd; you’ve never been on a train like this, but you didn’t have much time to think over this as a pretty boy with a fair complexion approaches you.

Again you find yourself hoping he will sit down since you’re starting to feel a little bit out of place, being the only soloist in the carriage, but he passes by again.

A third guy enters the carriage and starts looking around.

You sit straighter and realise your hair is a mess so you straighten it up a bit and pat your skirt neatly. As he walks down the aisle, you make eye contact with him and both of you exchange smiles.

“Hello.” You say.
“Hi.” He responds.

Before you can get another word out though, his attention is brought elsewhere and he spies an empty chair in the corner. He leaves without a word and you feel sad. It could have been him.

You turn your attention back to the passing scenery. No more hoping for someone to take the seat.

Other guys pass by in the corridor and some even pause near you but they don’t look like good company with that bottle of beer in his hand or that noisy looking toy in his pocket. Not once did you look up when they stopped until they finally leave but you just give them a quick glance before looking back at the scenery.

I have had enough for today.

You close your eyes as you feel the warmth of the sunshine bathing you in a sleepy stupor.

“Excuse me.”

Your eyes fly open and it takes a moment for you to register what is happening. The bright yellow light now pale yellow with, if you were seeing things right, flecks of gold and orange. A mysterious light indeed. Next to the empty seat across from you stands a guy in a grey jacket.

“Is this seat taken?”

You shake your head and smile at him, hoping it’d put him at ease and that he will occupy the seat. He returns the smile and placing his bag in the overhead compartment, he takes the seat across from you.

Both of you make eye contact and exchange smiles again before you both look out of the window.

You didn't get a clear look at his face but you remember that he has dark brown eyes and a dimple on his right cheek. Glancing from the corner of your eyes, you see that he has dark brown hair as well. In his hand he holds a book.

Looking down into your own hands, you realise you’re holding a book as well. Why didn’t I notice this before? Looking back up, you see that he is completely absorbed in nature’s beauty. You settle back in your chair and look outside again.

“Where are you going to?” Did he just ask you a question?
“Sorry, are you talking to me?”
“Well, you’re the only one here aren’t you?”

Until then, you didn’t realise that the entire carriage was empty except for the small compartment that both of you occupied. Somehow, that makes you feel happy. But then you also realise that that wasn’t the only thing that you didn’t notice.

“I don’t know actually.” He turns to look at you, his eyes wide in surprise.
“You don’t have a destination?”
“I have a ticket. That much I know, but I never checked it again after I got on here.”
“Guess you just know when you have to get off, huh?” He smiles at me and leans back in his seat. “Same here.”

He has big eyes and a straight nose. His lips look really full and he scratches his head when he forgets what he’s about to say. You like the flow of the conversation and in the mysterious golden light, he looks like a god. This stranger makes you feel comfortable.

At every moment you find yourself trying to sit straighter and you play with your hair constantly as words are exchanged. He mirrors your movements, straightening his jacket and fiddling with his hair.

“Hungry?” You ask and take out a wicker basket from under your seat, surprised you knew that it was there. He nods his head, never taking his eyes from the basket which produced a variety of sandwiches and a thermos filled with sweet tea. There is a slice of cake as well which the both of you polished off as soon as the sandwiches disappeared.

“Thank you,” he says with a childish grin. You can’t help but smile back. “You’re welcome.”

Silence fills up the space between both of you again as nightfall approaches and you find yourself getting sleepy and your head keeps bobbing up and down.

“Can I read what’s in your book?” His question catches you off-guard and you find yourself breaking out in a cold sweat despite not knowing the contents of the book exactly. You hesitate and look at him.

“Only if I can read yours.”

Striking a deal, an exchange of books took place and for the next hour or so, both of you poured your souls into reading the book in your hands.

“I’m sorry.” You look at him with tears in your eyes. He gives you a tired smile and places your book in his backpack. It doesn’t bother you that he just took it without asking you. You did the same anyway, keeping it in your backpack. “I’m sorry too.”

As the train pulls into a station both of you get out of the carriage and walk out of the building towards a quiet town.

In the shadows of the trees, walking down a familiar looking path, both of you continue to stride easily, side-by-side.

It appears you have arrived at a sea.

Both of you sit down on the sand and watch the white moonlit waves rolling, the wind making a mess of your hair, your hands entwined and your head on his shoulder. Silence again.

“I love you.”

He shifts slightly and you feel his fingers on your face, gently turning it so that your eyes meet again and as he lowers his lips to yours, you hear the words you know you have been searching for.

“I love you too.”

Impossible to retrace the steps

Even as I was doing work just now (taking a short break now) I can't help but think that I really screwed up so badly this time and I feel so sorry for being such a bother to Prince.

I am feeling slightly a bit more better after having talked with my roommates but I still feel like I'm wearing a mask.

I also think that Xia is trying to make me feel better and I really appreciate her sincerity but for now I just want to wallow up and cry really but I did my best to not show it to anyone.

I've Whatsapped the one person that I can really trust now but she hasn't woken up yet so I'm just waiting to get at least a slight bit of comfort from her.

Dear God, forgive me for having troubled him.

A small void

I keep saying to myself, "If it took me 4 months to talk with him, surely you can be patient enough to wait till the next time you guys talk? I mean, it'll surely come within a shorter time than last time."

That is most certainly true, however, I can't help it but I'm becoming such a greedy person.

I want to talk with him on Facebook so I purposely log on several times a day and leave the tab open but thank goodness these days I don't do it that much anymore. Sometimes when I see him online I go off instead because... Well... In a way, I don't want to raise my hopes up.

I need to keep my mind open. He isn't the only guy that exists in this world that could be "my type".

But I can't help wishing that he would be interested in me.

Maybe he was but I turned him off. I don't know. I'll just have to wait out and see.

Hopefully I won't be thinking so foolishly anymore. Hopefully.

There is an uncertainty

Do I really like him?

That's what I wonder to myself a lot these days.

I don't get much butterflies in my stomach when I see him and I don't think about him as much as I used to.

But then, when I do think about him, even the smallest things, I smile automatically.

I'm also going to seriously start to take even better care of myself because you know why? I care about what he thinks of me and I want him to think that I'm pretty. I want him to notice me and talk with me.

It's things like these that reminds me that I still do like him.

I think I'm only feeling a bit sad cause we don't really talk much to each other as much as I want to.

Maybe I'm only feeling this way cause he didn't reply to my text but then again, at least he did the first time.

Maybe I'm only feeling this way cause he added another junior but as of now, I don't think that she likes him.

At least, you know, we did interact with each other.

And I don't know why, but, I feel like I must keep holding on because I feel that something's about to happen and if I stop now, I might let something wonderfully magical pass by.

So, for now, I will be patient and wait. :)

This is a risk

Well, today was a very gossip filled day.

During lectures, I always sit next to June and another friend, Allie, and today, Allie told me a whole lot of gossip.

She said that she used to like a guy but then she lost interest in him but before that interest disappeared, a lot of people questioned her whether or not she liked him, including one of that guy's guy friend.

It's probably cause I was completely fixated on Law but I was completely oblivious to the fact that she liked this guy.

And I sit right next to her for heaven's sake!

I kind of knew she liked someone but I never figured out who.

But the main point here is that if her crush for the guy was so not obvious and people found out by themselves, what about my feelings for Law?

I didn't realise it but when Jean pointed it out to me during first break, I finally realised that Law must already know that I like him cause I am so obvious and rumours do get around very fast in school.

But still, he doesn't seem to mind it.

And I kind of think that he's interested... In me.

I was talking to Jean, Elva and Sasha about this topic (Law was sitting in front of me at 11 o'clock) and I couldn't help it. I started going crazy.

I always get crazy when I'm in front of him and when I get super nervous.

So I decided to go back up before he did (but he left before me anyway) but I had to see Angel to collect money for the party.

I thought that he'd be long gone by then so that I wouldn't bump into him.

But then, I saw him standing at the main stairs, looking at a bulletin board that was posted up so that anyone can write "Good Luck!" to our seniors and friends who'll be leaving this year.

He got only one post-it so far.

I passed by him with my head down and with hurried steps.

During the second break, I got held up in class a bit and I got really crazy then cause I really wanted to see him and not waste anymore time so by the time I came down, I was slightly disoriented.

I saw that Law was sitting at the table which was in front of the table I sat in during the first break so I picked a table that was a table away to his left before I went to find Helen, June and Elva.

The four of us just chatted and talked about random stuff and one by one, people left the cafeteria but he was still hanging around there.

I wonder if it's just in his nature to just stay back in the cafeteria so late or if there's some other reason.

He got up to leave before we did though cause we were busy laughing over food and how we trooped off to the counter to find it and buy it.

Then, Helen told me the Chuck Norris joke.

Helen: Beth! Listen to this Chuck Norris joke! It's so disgusting! (She was Twiting)
Me: Okay, what is it?
Helen: When Chuck Norris died, his sperm was preserved and made into a liquid now known as Red Bull.
Me: EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

And at that exact same moment that I said "EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!", Law passed by me and turned to look at me and I could've given him a reaction or something (cause he looked so shock) but I pretended to be so absorbed into Helen's joke.

Stupid fool.

Why am I like that?!

I had to go to his lecture hall again to collect money (and I must do that again tomorrow) and he was busy talking to his friends so I didn't even bother to do anything to try to get his attention.

A senior caught a glimpse of my white book filled with post-its about Law but then I grabbed them away from him.

Earlier on, I also asked Blair if she saw any folded up paper and she said no. Where are they???!!

A lot of people saw my white book already. =-=;

But I am done and am tired of waiting.

If he's not going to do anything, then I will.

I'm going to write him a post-it and stick it onto the bulletin before he comes to school tomorrow cause there' a bigger probability that he'll check it tomorrow instead of Friday (which was the day that I initially planned to do it).

Better sooner then later right? Cause I might regret not doing it at all.

And besides, I got a good prediction for that.

Apparently if I write him a post-it, he'll give a good reaction to it, according to my prediction.

Ten of Cups - Fulfillment. Satisfaction. Completion of a happy cycle and a good ending. Deep connection with family, friends and community. Celebration that goal has been reached. Enjoy this moment for you have worked hard for it. Get-togethers and parties. Let go of your burdens and the time to carry them is finished. You have found the love you have searched for. Retirement.

Okay, now I'm going to write it and hopefully, something good will happen.

:)

PS. Really loving CNBLUE's EAR FUN album. All the songs are really awesome! I especially like Dream Boy the most somehow. :)

Flowers in the spring, fallen leaves in the fall

I like him.

Just thinking about him is enough to make me feel really happy.

Thinking back on all the times that we had together no matter how few they were, I feel so happy that I got to spend the past two months with him.

Yes, I do want something to happen between us but I don't want to rush it even if it takes months and if I really do fall for him, it could even take up to years.

Still, it's too early to say anything.

Yes, I'm hoping that one day, I'll get a chance to be his friend first before it progresses.

Still, I'm not going to make that a main focus for my life because if I focus too hard on this, my entire life will be out of balance.

As of now, I will concentrate on my studies for real and have a fun time in college and when I do get the chance to talk with him for real, I will do my best to be his friend and to intrigue him.

So now, I will do my group project and hopefully, I'll get to finish most of my homework today. :)
